University of Texas El Paso Larry K. Durham Sports Center

Director of Athletics, University of Texas at El Paso
SportsPLAN Studio principals Pam Scott and Joel Leider provided for the University of Texas at El Paso the needs assessment, detailed programming and design guidance for a new training facility for the athletics programs. Working with Alvidrez Associates as part of a design-build team, we created the program, that includes a 10,000 square foot weight training room, a spacious football locker room, and sports medicine center with all the necessary storage to support the various programs. The facility entrance, adjacent to the stadium entrance, is highlighted by the Hall of Fame.
On the upper floors, administrative offices and a meeting center overlook the Sun Bowl and command views of the beautiful mountains surrounding the site. There is also a state-of-theart kinesiology laboratory, which supports the University’s academic program in Human Performance.
