University of Nebraska Athletic Facilities Master Plan

University of Nebraska Athletic Facilities Master Plan
The intent of this master plan is to provide a guide for capital investment which will ensure the Huskers’ competitive edge for years to come.

The University of Nebraska selected SportsPLAN Studio and Leo A Daly in 2009 to update its 14 year old athletic master plan. The scope of work also included a physical condition assessment, structural evaluation and an energy audit for thirteen facilities serving the Huskers’ 23 varsity athletic programs. Structural repairs to Memorial Stadium were completed prior to the 2009 football season. The consultant team also prepared a detailed program, conceptual design and budget for a varsity practice facilities, a wrestling practice gym, a new strength training center and an expanded athletic medicine center. Planned as an addition to the Devaney Sports Center, the new facilities are currently under construction.

Other new athletic facilities identified by the master plan include a 50-meter pool with diving towers, a new gymnastics training facility and an indoor shooting range with 12 firing points. Improvements to existing facilities include new locker rooms and lounges for several teams, extensive modifications to the Devaney Center Arena, 20 new private suites and a stadium club at Memorial Stadium, expansion of the Huskers’ baseball clubhouse and new support facilities for Volleyball, Track and Soccer.
