Texas Tech University Dan Law Field Renovations

Baylor University Baylor Tennis Center
"Great Job! Thank you so much for working with us on this challenging study and for taking on our short timeline. The Board of Regents approved the concept and budget, so we are ready to go."
- Debbie J. Cox, Project Manager, Facilities Planning & Construction, Texas Tech University System

Texas Tech University, recognizing the need for improvement of its baseball stadium, Dan Law Field, engaged SportsPLAN Studio to study a number of different options for upgrading the facility. Included in the improvements were reconfiguration and expansion of the club and VIP areas, addition of three rows of field level seats between the dugouts, a new backstop, upgraded concessions, other fan amenities and seating, a new picnic terrace in right field, and new accommodation for the press. Most notably, a new entry plaza with landscaping, new ticket gate, elevator structure and new shade canopy were added to create a completely new architectural appearance and character.

Renderings of the final plan were completed for Board of Regents for approval, and construction began in summer following the 2011 baseball season. The project was completed in time for the start of the 2012 season.

These improvements provide a substantial enhancement to the spectator experience, as well as a greatly improved aesthetic presence on campus, all achieved with a relatively modest capital investment.
